Get Involved: A Letter from the President

Preservation demands perseverance, passion and patience,
but the rewards and results are worth it.

The purpose of the Georgetown Heritage Society is to preserve and enhance the quality of life in Georgetown with the following goals:

to assist in the preservation of buildings, markers, historical sites, works of art, documents, papers, pictures, records and writings of historical, traditional or cultural value

to disseminate knowledge, promote interest, encourage study and research and act in an advisory capacity regarding those things enumerated above

to cooperate with other persons, groups and organizations and agencies in realizing these objectives.

Members devote their time and efforts to meeting these objectives.

A major project of the Society is its partnership with the City of Georgetown in the maintenance and operation of Grace Heritage Center, known historically as 'Old Grace Church'. After serving the congregation of Grace Episcopal Church for 100 years, the building was a gift to the citizens of Georgetown. The Heritage Society is an integral part of the effort to keep the facility open to the public.

Maintaining the historic character of Georgetown for generations to come is dependent on the interest and generosity of its citizens to contribute information and resources and to assist in preservation of the city's historic homes, sites and commercial structures.

Be part of our effort to preserve and protect Georgetown's past. Your involvement and effort will be worth it!
